What moves the number

Ceilings run $4.00–5.00 per square foot with a surcharge for height. A stairwell or a two-storey foyer needs staging rather than a stepladder, and the pattern has to hold over the full drop, so those are priced once we have seen the measurement.
The material
Commercial-grade coverings sit above the base rate because they need double-cut seams and a different technique. Grasscloth, murals and hand-printed papers are less forgiving of a mistake than a non-woven, and that shows up in the time rather than a separate line.
Preparation, and its limits
We prime where the surface needs it, and that is included. We do not skim coat or level walls — if yours needs plaster repair first, that is a separate trade and we will tell you at the quote rather than partway through.
Travel
We work up to 200 miles from Monroe with a maximum of three and a half hours' travel. Beyond that there is a surcharge. Everywhere in the Charlotte metro is inside the normal area.
